first_imgThe recently restored Mosta garden has been vandalised by unknown individuals overnight. Light fixtures and dustbins were among the objects destroyed.More than €500,000 were invested in the regeneration of Ġnien l-Għarusa tal-Mosta and it was officially inaugurated in May by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Environment Minister Josè Herrera. The work included the planting of more than 2,200 trees and shrubs, 4,300 metres squared of paving was laid, as well as paths were restored and safety features installed.The Mosta Local Council condemned the vandalism in a Facebook post on Saturday. Jason Micallef who heads the Valletta Cultural Agency urged the Local Council to install CCTV cameras as soon as possible. The council said that it for the cameras to be installed, a risk assessment is required, and that it is working toward obtaining the required approval in the shortest time possible.A literature competition for the elderly was held at the garden the night before.
