first_imgPaul Finebaum explains why Clemson will lose.Odds for next season’s College Football Playoff are getting released and, unsurprisingly, Clemson and Alabama are the frontrunners to make it.The Tigers and the Crimson Tide are both seen as heavy favorites to compete for college football’s national championship next season, coming off of their College Football Playoff title game berth this year.Paul Finebaum is only willing to guarantee one of those teams’ berth, though. It’s not Alabama.Finebaum believes Clemson will be in the College Football Playoff next year, but the SEC is so strong that Alabama could miss it.“I know a lot of people today will rush to judgment after an epic beatdown and I’m not quite ready to do that, but I do have to question those who assume Alabama will be back next year because they’re Alabama. The same logic went into thinking Alabama would beat Clemson because they’re Alabama,” Finebaum said on ESPN this morning.“I was wrong and many others were as well. I would be very careful. The competition in the SEC is getting more problematic for Nick Saban, especially with some of his disciples, like Jimbo Fisher and Kirby Smart at Georgia. It’s the SEC and getting out of the SEC. Clemson will get there next year because there’s no one in the ACC that can stop them.”That’s probably fair. There are several College Football Playoff contenders in the SEC heading into the 2019 season. In the ACC, it’s tough to believe in anyone but Clemson. But Alabama will probably still make it…last_img
