Photo credit: concierge.comA major hotelier here is calling for a reduction in the Value Added Tax on Tourism.The owner of Jungle Bay Resort and Spa Sam Raphael said the upcoming 2011/12 national budget should reflect a reduction in the VAT on tourism.He said if the VAT is reduced on the struggling tourism sector it could attract more visitors to the island.“We have been hit hard and people are quite familiar with the problems. In the stay over sector we have suffered quite a bit. The VAT is simply too high. We have complained about that as a sector from the time it was imposed,” he said.Raphael said a reduction in VAT would also mean more revenue for government and more employment as well.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
